Outfit | Shikari Shambu

My over-sized (Shikari Shambu) shorts. I was brimming with happiness and immense satisfaction when I first found it. Just about a week before I purchased them, I had to attend an event so I was discussing my outfit with a friend and telling her about my crazy urge to wear a pair of crisp over sized tailored shorts in white (inclined towards the designs of Derek Lam and Stella McCartney oh how I wish) and pair it up with a sleeveless blazer, belt it up, yadda yadda yadda. Now that would be friggin' ace. Ah. I wore the outfit only in mind, of course. The Universe was probably conspiring to help me chance on one and so I did. Not crisp, white and tailored like those of the aforementioned designers but good enough to make a happy Rinchen. The cut out silk top had been lying in my closet since December 2011 when I got it from Plum For Polly along with my JC Zoe's. Now I had to force myself to wear these as soon as the weather got warm. Because a.) I paid a good $45-50 for the shirt and now I find similar ones on numerous sites for not more than $15-20. Gah, I hate when this happens. The same feeling you get when you go back to a store during sales to find something for just half the price you purchased it. That! And b.) I had to pay 95% customs for the package. That would be till date the worst experience of shopping online. I literally wanted to tear apart the pot-bellied, arrogant, merciless officer's face at the customs office. India and the bureaucracy in Government offices can test your patience at a whole new level.

Getting back, these are pictures from the afternoon at Twist. [Details here]

Imsu, Lesly and me took pictures for each other and we sort of created our little own paparazzi in that narrow passage; the Canon's and Nikon's at their best. Renee was there at the store too and I met her for the first time though it felt like I'd known her for ages. If you read someone's blog constantly, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Rohini and Srish were also present at the event. It was nice meeting people and it was equally fun sitting by the corner table relishing the prawns, cheese cubes et al.
My exams are around the corner, recklessly haunting me every second. Other than that, I've been cleaning out my closet [yea, in Eminem's tone] since I have to shift to another part of the city. Got lots of new tops, dresses, bags and shoes which have been lying idle and I've decided they need to be with other people who'd make better use of them. Be on the lookout, the Blog Shop will get updated soon.

Twist | Event

Twist is a store in the pretty little expanse of Hauz Khas Village which houses a variety of collections by numerous designers. Sometime around the last week of April, we were invited to view Ranjunee and Shantanu's debut design collection. With my Annual Exams beginning in a few days from the event, my decision was in the lap of the Gods but I chose to go. Besides, I wasn't doing much staying home with my books. That's Ranjunee and her lovely designs behind her. Sheer tops in hues of blue, flirty prints and laces with a good touch of bold designs; it was nothing less than praiseworthy for a debut launch. Then the clickety-clicks followed because we didn't feel the need to let our cameras hang around our arms mothballed, I suppose.

To view the collection in detail go over to the Cat's space. The blue dress (second from left) with black piping on the sides is 'completely hand-stitched by Ranjunee'. Love how it looks when worn!

Serious crush on this little beauty- Lesly's Diana Mini. The body, the colour annnnd the flash! Obviously I lost all control and went gaga over it. [Still going gaga]. Meeting many bloggers was also the highlight that day. More on that in the next post.

21

As a child, Birthdays were always synonymous with the birthday dress. Even after completing two whole decades on this mighty planet, I feel the same- except, maybe, you could minus the extravagant frills that accompanied all my frocks as a kid. I was just recuperating around this time, so I wasn't wholly in the mood to dress-up nor had I planned on an outfit. This simple striped dress seemed perfect for the day, and along with it the black wedges which give a run to all the other heels in my closet simply because they seem more practical and comparatively subtle. Apologies for the continuous drought, will be posting often now. Watch this space for more. x

She's Got You High.

Reminiscing my happy, healthy days when I'd randomly dress up and take pictures with nothing bothering me. Now I'm bed-ridden, sad, frustrated and sick of eating food that lacks flavour. Despite being a victim of final exams and poor health, I felt the need to do a blog post. Should I call it compulsive blogging? I don't know! But this picture came to my rescue. Taken a few weeks ago after I purchased these sandals, I didn't have the slightest clue that it would go up on my blog. If I have to spend more days staring at the ceiling, I shall probably dig out more pictures from the past that are lying around countless scattered folders in my laptop. The cropped bustier/corset top is magical. Just when I was on the hunt for one such piece, the angels blessed me with it on a fine Sunday morning for the price of a packet of chips! [Yeah, now don't start hating it after knowing the price.] The skirt is an old thrifted buy too. More pictures from the archive soon, be on the lookout!

Title Song: Listening to Mumm-Ra. Those of you who know the song, thumbs up.
